Gone Home

Posted on Tue Jan 14th, 2020 @ 8:26am by Jerant van Rijn

Content at having escaped the ship for a few days, Jerant now sat in his old room back at his parents' home. He stared at the computer screen for a moment.

"Computer begin entry."

He drew in a deep breath as his dark eyes closed for a moment.

"The past day or so have been most gratify-... wait was I really going to say gratifying? I sound like a Vulcan now!"

Jerant chuckled as he shook his head. "I'm happy to be home. Happy to see my sisters again though mom was utterly chagrined that once again I didn't bring home a wife. She still has trouble accepting that I'll never have a wife. Anita and Patricia are more understanding though, even though Patty does keep teasing me about it."

He leaned back, stretching his arms behind his head. "Dad understands though, but then he understands the pressure too. I'm in no hurry to get married, and if I'll ever have children it's got to be via a roundabout way anyway. Or adoption and I'm not sure I'm cut out to be a single dad. Anita's little one is adorable though, but somehow I missed the message that she had been expecting. I'm a little sad about that, but we've been in deep space for so long, it could've easily gotten lost in transmission."

The Betazoid turned his head to listen. "Sounds like they're expecting me at the dinner table soon. Mom's been a bit bummed that Savin hasn't come to visit yet, but I know he's got his own stuff to figure out at the moment. I'm sure he'll drop by when he's ready. I mean, he's part of the family right? I've known him for so long now...he's practically a brother to me, despite my feelings for him."

He fell silent. "I know he'll never return them, he said so himself. But like I said, I'm in no hurry, and right now I'm enjoying my time with my family. Tomorrow I'm going to travel around a bit, see if there's any new buildings to climb into."

Jerant paused again, sitting up a bit. "End log and send to Imperator."
