Personal History Regina was born in 2368 in Berlin to Henry and Wendy Markoff, a pair of restaurateurs. Growing up, she spent much of her time sat in her garden, reading old books. It was through this hobby that her interest in medicine began, when she accidentally downloaded a biography of Florence Nightingale instead of the novel she was trying to get. Nevertheless, she was intrigued.

When she reached the age of 16, she enrolled in Starfleet Academy's medical division, knowing it to be the fastest way to get medical experience and training. She knuckled down hard, but often found herself being pressured by her friends to go out and have fun more. This was something she knew could affect her studies, but being something of a people pleaser, she tended to go along with it. As a result, she graduated in 2388 in the 82nd percentile rather than her predicted 90th, and was assigned to Deep Space 12 as a junior medical officer.

She served aboard DS12 for four years, being promoted to Lieutenant Jg during this time. However, she had a less than remarkable career there, and as a result, she was passed over for promotion on multiple occasions. Due in part to this, she jumped at the opportunity to transfer to the USS Elizabeth in 2392. While she was due to serve in the same position, the fact that she was on a Starship meant she was more likely to make a name for herself as a Doctor.

Two years later, in 2394, after the USS Wolff was damaged during the coup of President Pokk Thero, Regina was approached by now Admiral Oliver Lancaster. She'd been on a short list of medical staff he'd received from the CO of the Elizabeth as a potential replacement for his now deceased CMO. However, in light of her lack of experience, he had to offer her the assistant CMO role, with the potential for advancement after a probationary period. Although unsure of how to take the comment, Regina accepted, and transferred to the Wolff as the new Assistant Chief Medical Officer.
